Feet and the Importance of Footwear: Part 2

May 14th, 2010

Have you ever considered how far footwear has come since ancient times? Footwear has evolved from protective sandals (purely serving a survival purpose) to aesthetically appealing (even flashy in some labels), offering even more protection than before - which is especially the case for high quality footwear anyway.

We all understand how important shoes are, most of us even reward ourselves with a great pair after the tough period at work that has finally paid off. Interestingly however, the function and purpose of shoes goes far beyond looking good as a fashion accessory - while this is, of course, also important to us at Altitude Shoes.

People judge you and make assumptions about you based on how you look and dress. There are two ways to take this advice: complain about how unfair it is to judge, or accept the reality of it, take pride in your appearance and look good as a result.

Since you have found this site and want shoes that look and feel good, you are most probably the latter; the type of guy who people look at and respect because they see a man who obviously respects himself.

Shoes can also provide a confidence boost. Think of a teenage basketball player who buys the same shoes Michael Jordan wore, or a soccer player with the same boots David Beckham wears - these are huge confidence boosters. The same concept applies off the sporting field and into social, academic or professional situations. The right shoes will make you feel amazing at a party, in a meeting or in a job interview.

Lastly, humans are active creatures and when you couple this with the hard surfaces we are required to walk on, safety and protection become relevant

issues in the importance of footwear. Imagine walking on hard, uneven surfaces all day in a bad pair of shoes, even softer surfaces such as grass or carpet have specific risks such as broken glass. When considering this, you owe it to yourself to choose high quality footwear over poorer quality footwear (which you would have to replace so many times that it ends up being more expensive than the high quality footwear you would only have to purchase once).

Here at Altitude Shoes, we know this, so when we design our footwear, durability is just as important to us as comfort and appearance.

Feet and the Importance of Footwear: Part 1

May 10th, 2010

Physiology is an important component of Altitude Shoes technology, so we have spent quite some time studying the anatomy and function of the foot. As a result, we have not only designed footwear based on science on the cutting edge, we have also discovered:

  • Some interesting facts about feet
  • What you can do to take better care of your feet
  • Why high quality footwear is so important

Your feet are more important than you probably think - in fact, 52 of the body’s 206 bones are located in the feet! And since the average person walks 10,000 steps a day, it is worth investing in some knowledge about how to take better care of your feet.

With over a quarter of a million sweat glands each, your feet generate more perspiration than most other body parts. How much exactly? The foot sweats a cup (sometimes more) of moisture every day. This explains why we all have that friend/ brother/ uncle who can single-handedly clear out a room by taking his shoes off to relax!

Sweat, at its most basic chemical level is primarily salt and water. This is why when athletes perspire; sports drinks such as Gatorade are superior to most other forms of hydration - because while plain water re-hydrates the body, it does not restore depleted sodium stores.

Now of course, there is nothing wrong with sweating - it is a natural bodily function. So why do our feet differ so much to other body parts that sweat, such as our hands? Because the sweat from our feet cannot evaporate and escape into the atmosphere through the thick material of a sock and shoe.

Basic tips for hygiene and foot care include using strong anti- bacterial soap, wearing clean socks and letting your shoes air out for at least a day before wearing them again.

Well- ventilated shoes, cotton (or other absorbent material) socks and deodorant are also great accessories for your feet.

Stay tuned for Part 2 of this Article - The Importance of Footwear.

Short & Successful Individuals

May 7th, 2010

There are literally hundreds of famous individuals who have disproved the theory that being short impedes success. Take a look at some names below of successful musicians, actors and performing artists - all of whom were under 5′5″.

·         At 5′4″, Ludwig van Beethoven made it to the top as a composer in his time. He was famous for being a pianist of great fantasy and spirit, admired in particular for his amazing improvisations.

·         At 5′5″ Phil Collins’ height proved to be no barrier to success. He was a true master in his field, dominating the rock ‘n’ roll and jazz scenes among many other achievements.

·         Danny Devito is an outstanding example of a successful man. Standing at 5′ 0″ the actor turned director has put his name next to leading roles of many big budget hollywood films, going on to producing a few of his own including Pulp Fiction. Not bad for a guy 5 feet tall.

·         At 5′3″, Jermaine Dupri still achieved enormous success as an American record producer and rapper. Starting out as a teenage break-dancer, Dupri founded his own label and became the president and CEO of So So Def Records.

·         ‘Back to the Future’ star Michael J. Fox was 5′4″ tall and became a household name after earning his reputation as a talented actor in his home country of Canada. He eventually moved to Los Angeles where he took advantage of bigger and better acting prospects, despite some hiccups in his success.

·         Pablo Ruiz Picasso was an artist of the early 20th century whose work remains famous today. Picasso was 5’4”, regarded as a boy genius, he and his art inspired many 20th century movements.

·         At 5′5″, Dustin Hoffman was a pioneer in Hollywood’s use of average- looking actors. What he lacked in height, he made up for with charisma and explosive presence on set leading to his acquisition of Academy and Best Actor awards.

Being short is clearly no barrier to success, but being taller opens even more doors. Imagine if these

gentlemen had the opportunities we have today to increase their height.

Here is a little story about Altitude Shoes.

April 30th, 2010

Altitude Shoes was born when I wanted more height and realised what it took to do just that. Being insecure about my height had proven to be a long-term drawback in my endeavours so I set out to get this area of my life handled.

I wanted to be taller. I tried insoles, but they weren’t always fitted well with the shoes that I liked or found fashionable. I wanted high quality, height shoes that not only looked good and fit comfortably, but discreetly added inches to my height as well.

After doing some research and discovering the industry of height shoes and elevator shoes, I started wearing height shoes and noticed a difference in the way people interacted with me, particularly people I felt intimidated by prior to having this newfound height and confidence. Unfortunately, however, I was also a victim of poor quality products that tore apart… and of poor style. I felt uncomfortable and some shoes even had the height increasing mechanism advertised so obviously exposed that people could tell I was wearing elevator shoes.

Instead of risking more disappointment and wasting more money, I took the time and effort to design my own catalogue of height increasing shoes, with careful detail paid to aesthetic appeal, comfort and using quality material such as leather. This eventually grew to become ‘Altitude Shoes’. Since our launch, Altitude Shoes has continued to evolve in style and structure of its shoes. We invest a LOT into production and a little into marketing, so that our customers get the best results.

Today, Altitude Shoes is the best and most reliable manufacturer of high quality height- increasing footwear for men and is continually growing on a daily basis with an ever- increasing client base. This comes to no surprise to us as we strive to provide exceptional service and support to our customers, and we believe it is this attitude that places us at the forefront of the footwear industry.

Some tips for looking taller today

April 26th, 2010

There are several things you can do to appear taller, so let’s start from the bottom. Increasing height starts from the ground up, so if you can add a few inches below the feet, there’s less work to do above the feet - this means High Quality Height Increasing Footwear.

Ideal posture is a huge component of getting the most out of your natural height. Excessive curvatures due to overuse and chronic stress compress the natural length of the spinal column, and stretching or strengthening the right muscles can achieve a more ideal alignment of your feet, knees, hips, shoulders and neck. Combine the gains made from all of these joints and you will find yourself being an inch taller at least (if you already have near perfect posture, which is unlikely in the world of tech we live in today, then there is obviously not much more room for improvement).

There are other fashion accessories that help with this. These include vertically striped shirts, special shoes, head gear, colour co-ordination (e.g. for pants and belt) and specific hair styles.

If your hair is long enough, this can add inches to your height. Any issue of your local fashion magazine will probably have at least 5 different hairstyles you can find in photographs that have the common element of being short at the sides of the head and long at the top. You can also use certain types of headwear to look taller.

Lastly, when using fashion and style to appear taller, you want vertical lines or stripes that create the illusion of added height. Steer clear of horizontal striped shirts and having your pants too high or too low. These strategies and several more are visual tricks that both men and women use all the time (especially on television) and there is no reason why you shouldn’t use it to your advantage either.

Ways to look taller

December 12th, 2009

Today, we are going to study two areas which are the key to looking taller.  These two elements are (1) Posture and (2) Fashion.

Posture

Stance is one of the most important elements when considering being taller. Straightening your body position will make you be perceived as more dominant in minutes. If you allocate some time in your day to work on the right parts of your body and boost others (i.e. this is actually what changing your posture is), this will make an incredible difference in not only how tall you appear but will make you look a great deal more self assured to people you interact with as well.

A small exercise which can be used to improve your posture is:

Have your back on a wall when you are standing up, and slowly slide down the wall until your legs are somewhat bent and your tailbone, upper back, and the back of your head is against the wall (click the link below to see a picture).  Keep this pose, then stand up and move around.  You should imagine a rope going up through your back and the top of your cranium, and connecting you to the ceiling.

Start getting used to undergoing self-checks throughout your day so you can become deliberately aware of the type of posture you’ve adopted. If you have unbalanced stance from overuse, such as working in an office, or a lack of sports practice, the increase in your energy levels will be huge once your posture improves.

All of us can recognize good posture when we see it, and are inspired by how free and strong it makes someone appear, so make it happen for yourself!

Fashion

Here are some fashion tips to help you use the right clothes to improve your stature:

- Wear an outfit which has only colour, or have colours that blend well with each other. As soon as a color break occurs, your body becomes visually divided, and this will accentuate your small stature.

- Match your pants’ colour to your shoe colour to make the legs look longer.

- Wear an outfit with vertical striping . Vertical lines make a person seem taller. It’s a visual trick that’s played on our minds constantly, and no one ever realises.

- Wear clothes with shoulder pads. Shoulder pads make your shoulders seem broader and your entire body slender.

- Wear shoes with thick soles to add the impression of height, such as Altitude Shoes.

- Finally wear a coat that is of the correct length. They should end where the buttocks meet the legs.

Hope this helps Taller fans!

10 Easy Tips to Look Taller

November 19th, 2009

1) Practice Good Posture

Ideal posture can do wonders for your height. Excessive curvatures due to overuse and chronic stress compress the natural length of the spinal column, so straightening these curvatures out by stretching specific muscles and strengthening others is a great way to appear taller and more confident.

Here is a useful diagram of good posture as compared with bad posture too:

The Alexander Technique is helpful too in having better posture:

2) Try a hairstyle that is thin at the sides, and tall on the top.

If your hair is long enough, having it stand up can add inches to your height. Any issue of your local fashion magazine will probably have at least 5 different hairstyles you can find in photographs that honor the principle of being tall on the top and short on the sides. This ‘double strategy’ can be used to achieve the illusion of height. Here are examples of haircuts that do that:

Hairstyle that makes you look taller
Hairstyle that makes you look taller
This is what you should tend to for you to look taller.

3) Conceal your belt by blending it in with your clothes.

When using fashion and style to appear taller, you want vertical lines or stripes that create the illusion of added height, not horizontal ones as these achieve the opposite effect. Since belts are horizontal, you want to blend belts into your outfit by making it the same color as your shirt (or possibly pants).

4) Wear shirts with vertical lines or stripes.

Vertical lines and stripes create the illusion that you are taller. It’s a visual trick that both men and women use all the time (especially on television) and there is no reason why you shouldn’t use it to your advantage either.

5) Wear jackets with shoulder pads.

Jackets with shoulder pads make your shoulders appear broader and create that tapered ‘V’ upper body which helps you look taller and more athletic.

As men, we all have an ideal physique we’d love to achieve. This varies from guy to guy, but there are some general areas that we can all agree on and that is that we all want to be taller and we all want the ‘V’ (wider shoulders and narrower waist).

Wearing jackets and coats with shoulder pads can help you achieve this look, and as a result, people will make positive assumptions about you.

6) Wear a coat or jacket that is of the perfect length.

A coat of jacket should end where the buttocks meet the legs. A poorly fitted jacket is not only a fashion disaster; it has a negative effect on your height image.

Compliment a jacket with perfect length with shoulder pads (along with the other strategies you’ve being given) and you can instantly appear taller to everyone… wherever you are.

7) Match your pants’ color with your shoes to make the legs look longer.

Matching the color of your pants with your shoes is a great way to create the illusion that you have longer legs.

Making the belt the same colour as the pants simply looks like your pants so this doesn’t achieve the same effect as having the right shoes does (note that Altitude Shoes come in various colours and shades for this reason!).

8 ) Lengthen your upper body by wearing a belt that matches your top.

This adheres to the same principle in the strategy above - colour matching.

A belt doesn’t do much for your lower body, but the upper body is a different story.

Matching your belt with your shirt creates the same illusion that matching your pants with your shoes does, and it’s a great way to appear taller.

9) Use Dark Colors

Dark colours such as black, blue, and grey project power and competency. In today’s society, people respond to power, competency and confidence. People with power and confidence seem taller and more intimidating even if they are actually physically not. This is an interesting psychological effect and one that you can take advantage of.

Thus, to complement your height, dark colours can help you exude greater confidence and this will earn even more respect among your friends, co-workers and others in your world.

10) Wear Height Increasing Altitude Shoes.

Of course, finally, you should wear Height Increasing Altitude Shoes. You can become 2-4 inches taller instantly just by changing your footwear and wearing Altitude Shoes.

Height starts from the ground up, so why not start by adding height there :-) ?

Announcing the Launch of Height Increasing Altitude Shoes and the “How To Be Taller” Blog!

November 18th, 2009

Hi guys,

My name is James and I am the short (but determined!) guy who developed Height Increasing Altitude Shoes.

If you’re like me, you’ve definitely wondered what it would be like to be taller.

I got into this market by being short myself and dealing with the problems that came with it.

I’ve gone through jobs watching taller men (who weren’t necessarily smarter) get promoted. I’ve been to bars and clubs watching taller men (who weren’t necessarily better looking) take home beautiful women while I sat on the sidelines. I used to get bullied and teased about my height by taller guys.

This created a lot of anxiety and frustration for me. I used to blame my genetics. My parents. Even God. Eventually, I thought that I would have to settle for my height and that there was nothing that I could do about it.

It was during one of the most frustrating moments in my life that I came up with the idea of Height Increasing Altitude Shoes. I was on a date with a girl who I met who was NOT taller than me initially, but WAS taller than me in high heels. I took her to the bar for a drink and whilst I was waiting at the bar but not getting served amongst a sea of taller guys, the idea came to me for Height Increasing Altitude Shoes.

- No more standing on the tips of my toes (as I would often do, almost subconsciously, in situations).

- No more being passed over for promotion because I was too short.

- No more being looked down upon.

- No more losing a girl because I was short.

That is when Height Increasing Altitude Shoes was born and today, I am VERY excited to launch the brand and website!

The shoes are super high quality and we have planned whole new ranges of super stylish shoes in future. I chose for Altitude Shoes to be an online retailer so that we could service THE WORLD (yes, we can deliver anywhere).

Anyway, in closing, this is why I developed Altitude Shoes. For this vision:

You walk into a room and people look at you differently. Those who don’t know you wonder who you are. Those who do know you can’t figure out how you seem to have changed. It seems that overnight, you have more… presence. Women. Men. They all act differently to you.

If this is not in your reality at the moment, I understand. It wasn’t in mine either until I started wearing Height Increasing Altitude Shoes. The testimonials of our customers reflect this experience.

Personally, even with my high expectations, I was amazed at the difference being a few inches taller made to my life, so I hope the shoes (and this blog, which will have many other useful tips of how to get taller) improves your life and you experience the change I did.

Through this blog, I will provide you with information on how to get taller. I know that this is of interest to MANY of our loyal customers so I promise to bring you the best information that I can. Check the blog regularly!

As the Irish say, “You’ve got to do your own growing, no matter how tall your grandfather was!”

To greater heights,

James
